Scales are used to weigh various items. The main differences between them are the type of construction, the precision and the field of application. Some scales are able to weigh the same type of goods, even if the name propagates something else.
The most common types of scales are:

An ancient type of contruction of a scale. It has two bowls, where the goods are being compared or counterbalanced with weights.
